The Japanese tree will be amongst the first nations available to World of
Warships players. To keep the design of the ships authentic, we base our
works on real historical references. Whereas there are no problems with
finding information about the U.S. Navy, this is not the case with the
Imperial fleet. Finding intact documentation concerning Japanese military
vessels has been a real challenge. The next not-so-easy step is to translate
those documents into Russian or English.
WOWS的玩家最早接觸到的國家將會有日本。(譯註:第一波是美日,很早以前WOT也只有德
蘇)。為了保證船艦的設定和史實一致,我們的工作是基於真的歷史資料。雖然找美國海軍
艦艇的資料沒什麼問題(譯註:有幾本聖經級的著作,讓事情簡單很多),但是日本帝國海
軍就是另外一回事;要找到關於日本軍艦的完整文獻是相當不容易的事情,將它們譯成英
文或俄文也很難。
Realism is an integral feature of World of Warships and we go to great
lengths to achieve this. We have historians from all over the world helping
us in our research, including Japan! Not long ago, the St. Petersburg office
was visited by our Japanese military consultant from Wargaming Tokyo,
Tadamasa Miyanaga. We’re sure that his contribution to World of Warships
will be appreciated by our players.
真實性是WOWS重要的部分,我們也在這上面投注了許多心力。我們在全球都有歷史專家協

Below you may read the transcript of the interview with Tadamasa Miyanaga.
Hi, everyone. I am Tadamasa Miyanaga, and I am a military adviser for
Wargaming Tokyo.
各位好,我是宮永忠將,WG東京的軍事顧問。
Military history and board games have been my professional focus for the last
15 years. I have spent much time translating books about war machines and
military conflicts. My role regarding Wargaming projects is to provide a
proper understanding of military issues for the development of the “World of
” series and for our Japanese community.
過去15年來我專攻軍事史和桌遊(囧)。我一大部分的時間花在翻譯軍用機具和武裝衝突
相關的書上。我在WG開發計畫中的角色是提供適當的資料以協助XX世界系列的發展,
以及日本玩家社群的事項。
I came to St. Petersburg in order to share my knowledge of Imperial Japanese
Naval history with the World of Warships team. I had meetings with the Art
and Game Design departments. The main problem with developing the Japanese
tree is that many necessary historical materials can be only found in Japan.
So, we made a list of Japanese military archives and organizations that could
assist us in finding the references we needed. I also shared with the team a
few rather helpful books that included drafts of ships.
我到聖彼得堡的目的是把我關於日本海軍的知識分享給WOWS開發團隊,和美術及遊戲開發
部門的員工會面。發展日本線最主要的問題是很多必要的史實資訊只有在日本才找的到。
因此我們做了一張日本軍事資料庫/組織的清單,從中去挖可能的資料。我同時把幾本記載
有船艦設計草圖的書分享給開發組。
Today, I was lucky to play the latest version of World of Warships, and I’m
totally impressed. Every type of ship has its own unique role in a battle,
which makes the gameplay deeper. You can easily feel the fantastic atmosphere
of naval combat.
今天我有幸玩到WOWS的最新版本(譯註:各種羨慕忌妒恨啊),而我深感震撼。
各種艦艇各司其職,讓遊戲可玩性更深。玩家可以輕易地感受到海戰的華麗氛圍。
I must also mention the Yamato and Kagero warships. They are legendary for
me, and it was my great pleasure to operate them in a battle.
同時,我不得不提一下大和級和陽炎級,這兩級艦艇對我而言是傳奇,能在戰鬥中操縱
它們是很大的榮幸。
As a historian and military vehicle specialist, I can say that our developers
have succeeded in one of their most important tasks: The warships in the game
act and appear exactly as they did in reality more than 50 years ago – down
to even the smallest details.
身為歷史學者與軍事載具專家,我必須說我們的開發團隊已經成功的完成最重要的任務
:遊戲中的戰艦無論就外觀還是操作都與50年前真實世界相似,即使是最小的細節也一樣
As Japan was one of the major participants of World War II, it is going to be
among the several nations in World of Warships. Looking back into history, we
know that warship production required many resources, putting a strain on
Japan’s very limited resources. Commanding officers had no other option but
to train their crew and improve their skills. Moreover, during the World War
II, Japanese engineers implemented many new technologies to gain advantage in
naval combat.
由於日本是二戰的主要參戰國,因此她也會是WOWS的國家。回顧過去,我們知道建造戰艦
需要許多資源,這進一步壓縮了日本有限的戰爭資源,高層只能藉由強化訓練的方式試圖
扳回劣勢。此外,在二戰時期日本引入了許多新科技以求在海戰中取得優勢。
(應該說,帝國海軍完全是基於九段決戰的想法來建軍的,所以很多開發都因為這個不切
實際的紙上計畫走上歪路,例如說阿賀野、利根、大淀、北上都是基於某種寫在紙上的時
候很理想的計畫搞出來的失敗作。
另外和美國相比日軍的科技優勢大概只有氧氣魚雷而已)
I can say that the in-game ships inherited all the features and advantages of
their prototypes. Players are supposed to explore and comprehend the depths
of this uniqueness in order to win.
我可以告速各位,遊戲中的船都繼承了真實船艦(譯註:我對prototype在此的意義是這樣
理解)的特性,玩家必須探索/理解這個設定以獲取勝利。
As for my country, we still have very strong navy traditions. Japanese gamers
are keen on World of Warships, and I’m sure they would appreciate our
developers’ approach.
至於我的母國部分,我們仍然繼承了很強的海軍傳統。日本玩家很熱衷WOWS,且我很
確定他們會喜歡開發團隊的作法。
To my Japanese friends and players all over the world, World of Warships
exceeds one’s expectations in all senses, and, believe me, this game is
going to be legendary!
致我的日本朋友與全世界的玩家:WOWS在所有面向上都超越了原本的期望,相信我,
